Evaluation
1 In what ways does your media product
use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
Before
starting work on my media product, I spent a lot of time researching real media
products to find out which were easy to use, aesthetically pleasing and gave
the information in a clear and concise way whilst still being fun, easy and
interesting.
I have used
conventions such as a logo, links to several pages, a TV schedule and users can
watch live TV from the site.
During my
research, I discovered that sports media products are not specific to a
particular sport, they generalize and are aimed at a much wider audience. I have made the focus specific to only two
sports, giving a much more in-depth look into these aiming at a more
concentrated target audience who want to know more about these specific
sports. The information is therefore
in-depth and aimed at the real fan and enthusiast who is following these sports
and wants to know as much as they can about current events, competitions,
results and facts.
2 How
effective is the combination of your main product
And ancillary texts?
I have aimed
to include the ancillary texts within the main product in a very easy to use
manner. This has proven to be very
effective in that the ancillary texts have been designed to make the viewer
want to look at them and learn more.
Both of my ancillary texts have enhanced the main product by expanding
the content of the home page.
3 What
have you learnt from your audience feedback?
Audience
feedback led me to be live that a specific sport website was wanted by a lot of
boys. In terms of the homepage, my
research has taught me that audiences want it to be quick and easy to use in
order to learn more about the TV channel without spending a long time searching
for the information they are looking for.
Furthermore, they want to use the website to find the shows they are
interested in without searching through lists of shows they have no interest
in.
4 How
did you use new media technologies in the
Construction and research, planning
and evaluation stages?
When
constructing the site, I used wix.com as a starting point, which enabled
me to make the site from scratch and design it to look like I wanted, but with
an pre-set layout making it much easier to create. When creating the two videos, I used Final
Cut Pro to edit and develop my clips.
When planning
the layout of the site, I looked at other TV and sport websites to enhance my
knowledge and to see what is appealing to audiences, what works well and what
doesn’t.
